|Seize the Night (2015) - High Octane Sci-Fi/Horror Movie Making!!|
Seize the Night (2015) is one of those films that was influenced by features like Blade (1998), Underworld (2003) and it's been mentioned by being a peer to Razor Blade Smile (1998). Good visuals, good kick-butt, Martial Art-like action blended with horror/sci-fi and some CGI by Davy Simmons, makes this a clever little gem of a short, indie film. Did I say Indie? It does look a bit more than the average indie flick, in my opinion. These were the films we were trying to make in college and that's a good fang (thing)!!
PLOT: "After escaping from a secret government bio-research compound renegade vampire assassin Eva (Emma Dark) is hell bent on revenge. Receiving a tip off from the mysterious Dante (Anthony Ilott, Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort) she meets with arms dealer Joe (Paul Ewen, Cockneys vs Zombies) who informs her that an enemy is hot on her tail. Eva hunts the hunter and encounters a team of werewolves, led by pack alpha Tobias (Carey Thring, From Hell). During their confrontation Eva learns a terrible secret and is forced into a situation of such gravity she may have to join forces with the devil she knows in order to fight the greatest of all evils."
I actually went to a private cast and crew screening of STN in Summer 2015. I had backed the project to become an associate producer on the film. If you watch the film closely, you will see an image of me as a dead werewolf amongst many other night creature victims. I was impressed then as I am now and it makes the perfect Halloween treat for Horror film festival goers this season!!
Emma does a delightful job as Eva, the vampire assassin as does her story-driven directorial debut on the scene. I enjoyed the visual effects and over-all blue-tinted dark tone of everything I could take in. I have to mention the score by Eric Elick in it's industrial approach to the gothic visuals and high production values. AJ Singh's choreographing is spot on mixing the horror and action, too.
I did really enjoy this short feature and urge you to see it at film festivals as soon as you can if you are a fan of the genre. Starburst Magazine gave the film Seven Stars out of Ten: Truly Deserved!! Well done to everybody that made Seize the Night rear it's ghoulish head in on line Media!!
